This role involved supporting the assurance line of service in matters of risk and quality. I managed to build a strong network with local and global teams through constant interaction with a wide range of stakeholders in the PwC network both in Kenya and the East Market Area. As an associate, I worked in teams providing statutory audit services to a cocktail of private sector clients across different industries. This involved value adding audit of the company’s books of accounts and financial statements by test of Internal controls, substantive and detailed testing of financial statement line items such as Cash and cash equivalents, property and equipment, salaries and wages, and operating expenses.

I was able to facilitate the revenue collection process by ensuring accuracy of tax returns. This was done through reconciling returns, validating tax returns (VAT, TOT, Withholding tax, PAYE and KEBS), banking and reconciling cheques with the bank statements at the cash office and tackling taxpayer queries.
