Ruth Buchanan BA(hons), SEA, IEA. I have worked as a full-time artist since 2001 exhibiting at equestrian and rural events, galleries and association exhibitions, with my work in the Collections of notable names in the spheres of The Arts and Equestrianism. I write commissioned articles for art magazines in the UK and USA, and my first book: Hoof, Hide and HeArt: The Art of Drawing and Painting Animals was published in 2019. I undertake a set number of commissions per year, run workshops and demonstrations in drawing approaches and painting, and continue to explore and progress my own work in watercolour, oils, charcoal and mixed media. All my work is underpinned by strong drawing, and I have a lifelong habit in both sketchbooks and Life Drawing.In my earlier career I was an illustrator for brochure design and lifestyle magazines and have contributed illustrations to a book on classical schooling for horses.
