My husband and I are the proud owners of two unique, hand-built, luxury off-grid glamping units that blend cutting edge eco-tech with sustainable design and creative repurposing. Skoolie Stays offers luxury eco camping / glamping in a converted American school bus based in West Sussex, catering to mid-high earners keen to spend time outdoors but who demand a high standard of accommodation, strong eco-credentials and a high level of privacy. The idea was born from our own family gap year - in which we travelled 14,000 miles around the States in a converted school bus, and it has received rave reviews and write-ups in the national and local press. The Vacationist Eco Cabin was our second glamping unit, based in East Sussex. Working with LoCASE (Low Carbon Energy Across the South East) we successfully built a carbon-neutral 'tiny home' that showcased environmentally-friendly materials and technology. By focusing on sustainability alongside luxury, quality and design-led interiors, we appeal to holiday-makers keen to reduce their holiday carbon footprint without compromising on comfort. Following the huge success of our two glamping sites, we set up consultancy and matching service: Land for Glamping, which supports landowners looking to diversify with off-grid, high-end camping / glamping units that have minimal / no impact on the land. To oversee these three sites we are also in the process of setting up The Eco Glamping Club, a club designed to encourage planet-conscious holiday-makers to think about how they could spend time exploring the world without negatively impacting the planet. The company is registered with Natural England as an Exempted Organisation, which allows the company to award Certified Site Certificates to landowners facilitating recreational, carbon-neutral breaks in the British Countryside.

As Business Development Manager for TDC (Trust for Developing Communities) I was tasked with building partnerships to help diversify revenue streams and reduce charity costs. During my 15 month contract I secured a major partner to raise funds, as well as several partnerships that delivered pro-bono support or reduced prices; linked TDC into citywide talks about young people’s development; integrated the charity with the Brighton Digital Festival, Meaning Festival Fringe and Any Other Business; published articles and spoke in front of business audiences about community development and created the TDC Tech Trail - a citywide event that tackled the STEM skills gap by bringing young people from disadvantaged backgrounds into contact with some of Brighton’s most exciting tech companies.

Throughout my 2 year contract I ran regular community meetings, tours and local events; delivered monthly newsletters to a growing audience (3000+ subscribers); wrote weekly blogs and social media updates; presented to investors, business and resident groups, universities and schools about sustainability, transport, engineering and citywide benefits; managed official works notifications; managed delivery of the British Airways i360 guidebook and a series of construction documentaries and worked with local schools and colleges to develop a series of downloadable curriculum materials to promote STEM engagement with schools.
