I worked as a production glassblower to create handblown glass rondels and other wares including vases, light fixtures, drinkware, candlesticks, paperweights, ornaments, finials and other items. My responsibilities included producing blown and solid glass pieces both independently and as part of a team, contributing to general shop maintenance and tidiness, and some design work. Our hot glass production calls for both free-form blowing and mold-blowing, solid sculpting, and cold working - often to customer specifications. Kokomo Opalescent Glass is a sheet glass factory founded in 1888 that began their hot glass production studio in 1998, which has been going strong ever since.

Stained glass window restoration was a large part of this job, which entails documenting the window thoroughly, dismantling, cleaning the individual glass panes, and after they have been re-leaded and reglazed by the master glazier, cementing the newly assembled panes in place. I was also involved in the creation of original stained glass windows, as well as a large-scale mosaic. Additionally, I assisted with office tasks such as taking phone calls, organizing & filing information, and general shop tidiness. Pike Stained Glass was founded in 1908 by William Pike, who had previously worked for William C. Tiffany Studios.

Dichotomy Rochester LLC is a retail gallery dedicated to the display and sale of exclusively locally-made wares (Greater Rochester NY area).
