Co-coached a group of University of Minnesota MHA students who competed and placed 2nd at the National Association for Health Services Executives 2023 Graduate Student Case Competition.

As a service designer within Cityblock's product vertical, I led cross-functional redesign initiatives, empathized with clinicians & social care teams, and translated their needs into meaningful care management solutions for thousands of Medicaid beneficiaries across the United States.

As a business and solutions consultant for The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG), I designed new ways of providing care to drive system strategy in partnership with regional physician and clinical leaders across Northern California.

Under Sutter's system Chief Population Health Officer, I managed and consulted on a variety of cross-functional projects to lead the transformation of our delivery system into one that can support value-based products across our footprint in Northern California. Specifically, I: managed business plan development for an innovative care model for high-risk/high-cost Medicare Advantage members; consulted on the system strategy for enhancing Sutter’s clinically integrated network (CIN) in partnership with the network’s VP; managed the creation of a system-wide communications and engagement plan for all physician and administrative leaders; led the identification of appropriate incentive structure and funds flow for Sutter’s clinically integrated network; managed integrated planning between Population Health and Sutter Health Plan + Products; and consulted on population health budget development and staffing infrastructure for new health plan products.

In partnership with the firm’s president and lead consultant, I researched topics related to assessment, planning, evaluation, and healthcare systems improvement for clients across the United States. Additionally, I summarized needs assessment data for integrated health systems and developed tools to assist agencies with grant data needs. I had the chance to grow our client base by researching potential new clients.

Serving an internship under Sutter Delta Medical Center’s CEO, I led process improvement workshops and meetings with staff and managers to improve patient flow in the Emergency Department, designed tools to simplify data collection for telemetry operations and utilization, developed a bed placement tool with Chief Medical Executive, physicians, charge nurses, and nursing directors to ensure appropriate telemetry use, analyzed quantitative and qualitative patient experience data to guide recommendations on how to improve patient experience, and redesigned the hospital's daily safety huddle board to ensure that visual layout was user-friendly.Notably, all 19 of my recommendations regarding patient flow and experience were accepted by the senior leader team (CEO, CFO, Chief Nursing Executive, Lean Manager).

In partnership with the University President's deputy chief of staff, I helped develop the University of Minnesota Systemwide Strategic Plan and supporting communications plan, supported multidisciplinary groups for various presidential initiatives, including Campus Climate, created briefing documents for President and Deputy Chiefs of Staff regarding various university needs, and developed systems/tools to assist with the recruitment of senior leader searches.

I got the sweet opportunity to be a thought partner and consultant for Green Garden Bakery, a youth-run bakery in Northeast Minneapolis, through University of Minnesota's Community Health Initiative. We specifically provided solutions regarding ingredient sourcing and transportation options for the bakery.

In partnership with the state's maternal and child health leaders, I compiled data for the MN Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) as directed by the CDC, edited + revised literature reviews and reports for the Maternal and Child Health section, and created educational materials for providers and patients on evidence-based practices to prevent premature birth to support statewide prevention operations for maternity care.

I co-managed Wisconsin’s first successful national public health accreditation process alongside the Accreditation Director. I researched and interpreted national public health accreditation standards and measures for DPH staff; collected, revised, edited, and prepared evidence to be submitted to the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB); created educational resources, internal communications, e-learnings, and infographics based on analysis of accreditation guidelines; collaborated with internal multidisciplinary accreditation work groups and senior managers to find evidence for accreditation; developed and revised policies and reports for health equity policy, performance management, and strategic planning; and mentored and directed summer interns working with accreditationI also served on the division's Quality Improvement Council, where I developed and reviewed introductory QI training videos / communications / infographics and collaborated with other state agencies (including the WI Lean Governance Program) to ensure standardization of quality improvement education across state agencies.

Supporting Wisconsin’s first successful national public health accreditation process, I designed infographics to illustrate the 12 domains of public health accreditation to the 500-member Division of Public Health, as set forth by the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) for the state of Wisconsin. I also served as a member of the Communication and Education Champions for Accreditation, an ad-hoc group created to educate and inform DPH staff about the need, the legitimacy, and the components of public health accreditation, and analyzed and recommended the use of specific quality improvement tools to department-wide performance management and quality improvement leaders.Interning at the Department of Health Services exposed me to the functions within the state's public health department (budget analysis, nutrition, primary care access, health policy and law, health informatics, health equity, etc.)

My time with Dr. Daniel Beard's lab at MCW gave me a taste of wet-lab research, team-based problem solving, and innovation within academia. I analyzed and presented data on the environmental triggers that affected activity of the mitochondrial enzyme pyruvate dehydrogenase. This deep dive into this enzyme's activity gave me the chance to learn how to run different mitochondrial spectrophotometer assays to assess activity of the enzyme, as well as the opportunity to optimize research methods with other laboratory members.
