Healthy Communities Supervisor
CurrentSupervisor for Healthy Communities Team which includes staff assigned to chronic disease & injury prevention, assessment & surveillance, health equity, communications, emergency preparedness & response, and accreditation & performance management. Our team provides leadership for Live Well Goodhue County (the local initiative of the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership or SHIP), Towards Zero Deaths (TZD) Safe Roads committee, the Goodhue County Child & Family Collaborative, the Mental and Chemical Health Coalition of Goodhue County, and the Community Health Assessment Committee. We use the MAPP 2.0 model of community health assessment in partnership with the hospital system and the community. Current priorities in the Goodhue County Community Health Improvement Plan direct our team’s work: #1 Support mental wellbeing through mental health care and social connection, #2 Advocate for more housing, and #3 Address chemical health in youth and reduce overdose deaths. Healthy Communities works on topics such as healthy eating, active living, tobacco prevention, mental wellbeing, adverse childhood experiences and positive childhood experiences, and substance use prevention including opioids. I also facilitate the agency’s strategic planning and quality improvement committees and serve as the Accreditation Coordinator. Goodhue County Health and Human Services has been nationally accredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board since 2019.
