The Dili Institute of Technology is a higher educational institute with three faculties: Tourism, Business, and Engineering. For the Language Centre and the Tourism faculty I...- developed curricula for two intensive English courses. They were implemented directly after completion and have proven very successful (88% of students passed).- advised on improvement of policy and regulations.- trained seven language teachers in the following: methodology, student-oriented teaching, teaching large classes, classroom and time management, grammar teaching, preparation of level-appropriate materials, assignment marking. Result: huge improvement in teachers' self-confidence and enthusiasm, and their approach became more structured after only a few weeks of training. They also reported an increase in students'​ language output, motivation and engagement in class. It aims to improve the lives of people in several Asian countries by helping communities to work with their environment in a sustainable way, so that they can use the land and sea around them responsibly while earning a living. I helped improve the website, and wrote and copy-edited proposals and other material.- UNICEF and PROMAN (2013 - 2015)I proofread/copy-edited several reports and documents for an educational consultant in the development sector.- Oxfam (2011)I copy-edited four reports, written by four different consultants, regarding several cash transfer and voucher programmes (CaLP). None of the consultants were native speakers, and they were from different countries, so the mother-tongue-specific mistakes were a focal point during the editing. Together with five other teachers I worked for a DFAT-funded program, cooperating with the Australian Defence Force (ADF), Timorese Defence Force (F-FDTL), New Zealander Defence Force and the US government to train F-FDTL soldiers and officers General English and several other subjects and skills. The program takes 18 months, and prepares students for further training overseas. They are assessed according to CEFR (Common European Frame of Reference for languages) and ADF standards.- The multidisciplinary program included general English, ESL/ESP, geography, computer skills, maths and general knowledge. Levels: beginner - intermediate.- I successfully coordinated several classes in a military environment, working together with Timorese, Australian, New Zealander and American army officers and civilian teachers from Australia, the UK, the USA and Canada.- As a team we improved the program, offered a very well-structured learning environment, and helped students significantly improve their skills. More students than before we started the new program qualified for overseas training.
