Resident, Environmental Health, Safety & Security Manager / Member of Senior Management Team Provided the leadership to ensure the alignment of environment, health, safety, and security programs for the plant with state regulations, corporate policies and mandates, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and budget. Managed an Environmental Manager, Safety Manager, Security Manager, and Workers Compensation Manager, and budgets of $2-4M.  Held complete accountability for safety, environmental health, HAZWOPER, First Responder, Confined Space Rescue, Process Safety Management (PSM), and security assessments, program management, training, and awareness.  Fostered relationships with regulators and regulatory agencies that were beneficial to the plant and the community. Selected Accomplishments  Updated and wrote 20+ training programs for PSM, CA Corporate Criminal Liability Act, injury investigations, confined space rescue, and construction safety that improved awareness and compliance with state safety/environmental laws.  Collaborated with bargaining unit to establish a Safety Team, and implemented a Safety Recognition Program for the plant and individuals that resulted in 457 days without a recordable or reportable injury within 8 months.  Instituted a culture of compliance resulted in 2 years with only minor findings from any regulatory agency.  Introduced and collaborated with new law firm to address workers’ compensation cases that saved in excess of $2.3M. Developed an active and positive safety culture by influencing management to engage with employees to discuss concerns, problems, and ideas. Implemented a senior management monthly inspection program to identify hazards.

Environmental Health and Safety Manager Identified the need, aligned the EHS program with regulatory requirements, and strengthened the adoption of a safety culture that reduced injuries and workers’ compensation costs across 6,000 employees in 6 wineries.  Conducted a 5-year injuries analysis, identified trends, developed strategies, streamlined forms and processes, and collaborated with management to deliver safety training and awareness programs in English and Spanish.  Assessed and implemented improved personal protective equipment (PPE).  Identified and led the abatement of hazards impacting the general public and employees.  Managed safety training; forklift, warehouse, and construction safety; and assisted with environmental compliance. Selected Accomplishments  Implemented a training and compliance calendar for all wineries that increased involvement in the safety program and reduced injuries across all wineries by 20% with 3 wineries having zero injuries for 2 years.  Implemented a confined space rescue program that enabled all 6 wineries to comply with California standards in program, training, permit, detection equipment, and rescue.  Deployed the DuPont behavior-based STOP Program at 4 wineries that resulted in a dramatic reduction in injuries.  Developed a Process Safety Program that prevented fines by complying with federal and state regulatory requirements.  Instituted the fall protection, lockout tagout, and stretching programs that reduced injuries and improved overall safety.
