About Professor Ruth Massie Pfhea
I am in the unique position of being the Director of Education for one of the newest undergraduate institutions in England, MK:U, based in Milton Keynes and launched in 2021. In this role I am responsible for the development and delivery of all education provision. My role involves; leading the Education team; designing and developing the Learning & Teaching approach; ensuring that we are delivering to MK:U's cutting edge ethos; delivering in a digitally enabled environment; and ensuring a high quality student experience. I work with all elements of the MK:U team to ensure that we are delivering a future-orientated and inclusive educational establishment.MK:U is the undergraduate part of Cranfield University, where I am Professor in Education. I am a member of Cranfield's University Executive Forum and hold a seat on Senate. I represent MK:U on Education Committee, a sub-committee of Senate, and on numerous other senior and leadership committees. I work across Cranfield to ensure that MK:U has the resources it needs and to feedback the innovative learnings from MK:U into Cranfield.My primary research focus is on tertiary education. I hold a PhD in Management, focusing on Board Leadership, from Cass Business School, City University London. I also hold an MA in Academic Practice, a Masters in Research and an Executive MBA. In August 2023 I was awarded Principal Fellow of the HEA (AdvanceHE).After 11 years work experience first in Business Continuity then Organisational Strategy, I moved to an academic position at Cass Business School, City University London. During my working career I have worked internationally, including 8 months in Australia. I have consulted to, and worked for, a number of internationally renowned organisations.

I was delighted to have worked with Prof Paul Palmer on this project. This aim of this role was to understand the effectiveness of the Ethics education provided to Cass Business School's Graduates. Whilst the Ethics programme has been commended by all three accreditation bodies, this role's aim was to quantify to programmes outcomes. I employed both qualitative and quantitative methods to undertake this research, utilising SPSS and NVivo software packages.

Esrc/Sams Management And Business Development Fellow
I was delighted to have been awarded a Fellowship by the UK’s Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Society for the Advancement of Management. The Fellowship provided me with three year’s funding in order to undertake a PhD in Corporate Governance. The BAM website describes the scheme as follows; "Management and Business Development Fellowships are aimed at talented individuals at an early-mid career level who have between five and fifteen years active experience either as a practitioner in business or management or as an academic researcher in a different discipline. The scheme was introduced by the ESRC as part of their ongoing effort to increase capacity in the sector. Last year [2009] UK Research Organisations were invited to host Management and Business Development Fellowships, with additional co-funding provided by the Society for the Advancement of Management Studies (SAMS). As a result of this call the ESRC and SAMS have awarded 16 Fellowships across eleven institutions" (BAM website, 2010).
