Dear All It is my great pleasure to announce that Ruth Murray-Webster has today successfully completed her DBA. Her thesis was entitled “What does it take for organizations to change themselves? The influences on the internal dynamics of organizational routines undergoing planned change”. Ruth was supervised by Harvey Maylor and further supported by Panel Chair Mark Jenkins and Panel Member David Denyer. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the new Dr Murray-Webster and wish her all the best for the future. There is lots of existing research in this area, but much of this focuses on change agents, the people who are tasked with bringing about the change. My research focuses on the organisational routines that are intended to be changed, and the people whose work would change if efforts were successful – I call those people change recipients. I’m also interested in the role of the change recipients’ line manager as they often are required to span the boundary between the change agents in the temporary team, and the change recipients in the standing organisation. My work makes a contribution to practice and practitioners, and not just knowledge. I am particularly motivated to provide new insights for change agents who are tasked with crafting approaches to bring about strategically beneficial planned change in their organisation.
