I also led the 2014-16 Bixby Lecture Series, which engages the UCLA community in various reproductive health issues, such as “the fetal origins of adult obesity in the U.S.,” “maternal health challenges in Burma,” and "health and advocacy of LGBTI people in Southern Africa."I am also a researcher on a study that evaluated access to contraception in the southwestern United States. The results are published in Contraception and the Journal of Adolescent Health. Our study aims to identify the barriers young people face when accessing birth control in randomly-selected pharmacies in four states, each of which has a different regulatory regime. -

I designed and implemented a new survey to inform the San Francisco Women’s Health Advisory Council on the city's healthcare practices in pregnancy weight gain counseling. I presented the findings to key stakeholders in San Francisco's five delivery hospitals, laying the groundwork for a new initiative called the Prenatal Nutrition and Physical Activity Collaborative (P-NaPA Collaborative).I also developed a self-evaluation scorecard to monitor San Francisco's implementation of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Guidelines. I wrote the 2015 summary brief and presented the findings to the San Francisco Hospital Collaborative for Breastfeeding and Infant Nutrition. -
