Directs all tax functions for a boutique firm that specializes in the cannabis industry. This includes the cost accounting necessary to capture all allowable costs in COGS and mitigating the affect of IRC 280E to the extent permissible.

Served as key member of the executive team, responsible for finance, accounting, budgeting and performance measurement functions and financial leadership for the organization. Strengthened internal operations, hired new audit firm and completed a transition year audit, addressing prior year issues that required significant adjustments in the financial statements. Annual operating budget of $25 million.

Started as a member of the Management Team in the Procurement Division, supporting the Director and Vice President with analytical support including Labor planning and estimating, Overhead budget management, and related projects. Transitioned to a Program role managing intercompany relationships between Bath Iron Works and other General Dynamics-owned companies. Draft, negotiate, execute and administer Intercompany Support Agreements with the support of two staff members. Participate as a key member of onsite management for ship repair and maintenance projects in San Diego, California. Responsible for the successful management of approximately $50 million in annual activity between business units.

Served as key member of executive team responsible for finance, human resources, risk management, legal matters, and contracts. Efforts resulted in enhancements in service to program management; enhanced external relationships with bankers, auditors, insurers and National office personnel; and development of the organization’s finance and human resources infrastructure. Annual operating budget of $10 million, capital budget of $7.5 million.

In 1991 I began to develop a clientele of individuals and self employed professionals to whom I provided bookkeeping and tax services. I brought the majority of those clients with me when I joined Purdy Bingham and Burrell, a regional accounting firm based in Portland, ME, in 1997. In 1998 I passed the CPA exam and began working on my Master's degree, commuting to Boston, MA weekly. In 1999 the partners at Purdy Bingham and Burrell split, and the partner with whom I worked most closely moved to another regional firm, Macdonald Page. I joined her at Macdonald Page and worked there for more than a year before deciding to break away and resume my private practice closer to my home in Harpswell, ME. Throughout these transitions, my clientele grew and enjoyed consistently professional, expert service in the areas of accounting, financial reporting, analysis, tax planning and preparation, estate planning, payroll taxation, and problem resolution in each of these areas of practice.
