In the UK I… Show more The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) was set up to promote molecular biology across Europe, and to create a centre of excellence for training Europe's leading young molecular biologists. It is a non-profit, intergovernmental organisation funded by 27 EMBL member states and one associate member state along with funding secured from external funding bodies.EMBL is one of the most highly ranked scientific research organisations in the world operation over six sites. In the UK I have operational responsibility for grant funding at the Hinxton, Cambridge site and I am responsible for line-managing the EMBL-EBI Grants Office who provide administrative support to the EMBL EBI and ELIXIR for their external funding activities.This includes direct line management, supporting EMBL-EBI Principal Investigators and other grant applicants in identifying external funding opportunities, applying for such opportunities and in the management of all awarded grants and similar award, monitoring and managing grants compliance, and providing support, training and guidance to grant holders, management of grant related modules of EMBL's integrated research system (Converis) and other grant related administrative systems, maintaining good and proactive relations with grant awarding bodies, liaising effectively over changes in funding schemes, identifying impacts to EMBL and EMBL-EBI of changes in funder requirements and policies and establishing initial action plans to address any resultant issues, policy and process development around funder requirements, management of the process for review, negotiation and finalisation of all grant agreements, consortium agreements and other related grant contractual documents.
