InternUniversity Of North Texas Jan 2011 - Aug 2011Dallas/Fort Worth AreaClinical studies to determine whether oxidative stress measured via serum Glutathione(GSH) levels in patient samples is associated with chronic stress and whether it differs between non-Hispanic African-American, Caucasian and Hispanic women. -
Graduate Teaching AssistantUniversity Of North Texas May 2010 - Aug 2011Dallas/Fort Worth AreaStudied the effect of drug compound Withaferin A in Human Leukemia cell lines (HL60 and mGST transfected HL60. Focus was to investigate the role of oxidative stress in cancer and how oxidative stress induces pro- and antiapoptotic signaling pathways and detoxification pathways. Acquired experience with Human Leukemia (HL-60) cancer cell culture and several experiments such as MTT assay, flow cytometry, transfection of the HL-60 cell line with mGST-A4 and compared the efficacy of Withferin-A as an anticancer agent between the two cell lines (transfected and wild type). Confirmation of oxidative stress levels by measuring lipid peroxidation products like malon-di-aldehyde (MDA) using TBARS assay/LPO-586 kit. -
