For Orange Business Services I was involved in the security infrastructure for their Heineken project. I did part of the security design, investigated the implementation, created and implemented the analysis of security rules and initiated enhancements on both design and implementation.For the analysis of the security rules we received and processing the logging on those rules, I used my knowledge of Perl extensively. This resulted in a reduction of approximately 70% of the time needed for this process.Products involved: Check Point, Juniper, BigIP, IronPort en Scansafe.Technics and protocols used, besides security: MPLS, VRFs and routing.

Project 1: Analysis, design and impact analysis off Application DeliveryI did the analysis of the current situation on Application Delivery and the proposal for a new infrastructure. Did some intensive consultation with both suppliers and the Schiphol Group on both load balancing / application delivery and security aspects. Resulting in an extensive report of functional and technical design for the implementation of the new infrastructure.Project 2: Impact analysis and functional design for implementation of CheckPoint Provider-1Schiphol Telematics expects that Provider-1 will deliver a improvement on operational control for the many CheckPoint firewalls. Analysis shows that these improvements don't exist or only partly. My job is to investigate the real pro's and con's, both for Schiphol Telematics and for the Schiphol Group, resulting in a realistic decision on the implementation of this product. Project 3: Technical design F5 BigIPThe existing load balancer solution is end-of-life and urgently needs to be replaced. The decision has been made for the F5 BigIP LTM solution. My job is to investigate how the conversion for the old applications can take place and to report on the technical design for the conversion.

My team is responsible for about 600+ switches and routers, 70+ km off glass, spread out over 30+ locations all over The Netherlands.

Consultancy and support for TUNIX customers, on network security and TUNIX firewalls in general, but also on mail, anti-spam, IPv6 and web filtering.

As a result of an internal reorganization there was a vacancy for team leader of the education department. My primary task was to manage the seven teachers in my team, as well as new development for the department. I introduced our beautiful new training accommodation in Veenendaal, one of the most splendid accommodations in The Netherlands. Well, that's what our students are saying. Another responsibility was both the growth of our team as the number of courses in our program.

My first job at TUNIX was in Research & Development. Doing maintenance on our TUNIX/Firewall, mostly written in C and Perl.
