This research was carried out under the guidance and supervision of Dr. V S Vaidyanathan, Department of Statistics, Pondicherry University (A Central University), India over a period of four years (as part of full-time Doctoral Degree Programme in Statistics).The Thesis entitled "On estimation of parameters of Gamma Models through Heuristic procedures" seeks to introduce a class of heuristic procedures to estimate the parameters of five different forms of Gamma models. It touches upon the parameter estimation problems in univariate, multivariate, finite mixture models as well as multivariate finite mixture models. The performance of the methodologies proposed in the thesis has been assessed via simulation studies as well as real-life illustrations.
