About Dr Rachel Varshney, Phd

As an advocate I practice predominantly in civil litigation. I work in commercial law and have an interest in building and construction and property law, personal injury and workplace matters, in particular workplace injuries, and health and safety. I am an experienced mediator, having undertaken mediation training at QUT Faculty of Law and the Resolution Institute and am a keen proponent of alternative dispute resolution.I hold a PhD from University of Queensland in Applied Linguistics and a Doctorate from the Sorbonne Nouvelle- Paris III in language teaching and learning. I engaged in language research at the Ecole Normale Superieure - LSH in Lyon and at the Sorbonne-Nouvelle in Paris, whose research informed linguistic policies for the Conseil de l'Europe.I take an enthusiastic and holistc approach to practice. High level communication skills, coupled with the ability to work well under pressure, allow me to provide comprehensive advice to clients and assist in providing negotiated outcomes between the parties.
