Briggs & Stratton Home Power Products Group (Formerly Generac Portable Products)

Hired to provide cultural and performance management leadership to Generac Portable Products, a multi facility international consumer products company, during the transition from private to public ownership. Introducing an HR Business Partner structure allowed the HR team to deliver meaningful support to the operational teams focused on delivering sales growth of over 300% in two years. I developed or revised all HR practices including; volume staffing, retention strategies, merit based compensation practices, redefined all benefits and added leadership training along with succession planning for key talent which resulted in a 34% reduction in turnover. I also facilitated a company wide process improvement initiative focused on margin improvement, served as the ISO 90001:2000 executive sponsor and implemented a redesign of the inside sales, quality, global sourcing and product management functions. When the company was sold to Briggs & Stratton in 2001 my responsibilities included inside sales, customer service, quality, administrative services and MIS.

Developed first corporate foreign assignment program for expatriates and supported global talent resources in sales and service. Leveraged contract resources from India and Asia and developed compensation, retention and citizenship programs. Managed downsizing as the result of 1998 tech crash.

Working in a matrix organization gave me the opportunity to accept a broad range of corporate assignments while providing leadership to an HR team dedicated to the GB Electrical businesses. I directed the HR activities supporting six businesses located in five states, Canada, Latin America, Brazil, UK and Asia. This included; acquisition integration, strategic planning, organization alignment to manage double digit growth and the development of GM talent to build bench strength. Provided leadership to enterprise wide HR initiatives including the culture and business process transition from an international to a global business model and developing performance metrics around EVA.DIRECTOR OF MANUFACTURING assignment for one year,1993 - 94, I managed the relocation of our steel stamping business, reduced scrap in a core product category by 33% and was a member of the outsourcing team that opened the company's first maquiladora.
