I’m an engineer at heart. I believe if there’s a need for something which does not exist, and it’s in my capabilities to make it, then I will. Moreover, if what I make works well, I can look back with genuine pride; and that’s certainly how I feel about DECLARATION.So, here’s what I did and why. As a technical journalist in the late 1990s I was frequently contacted by marketing and PR agencies. I was amazed at a) how little they knew about the publishing industry and b) how little they knew about their clients’ technologies and markets. It was then that I perceived the need for an agency that would specialise in technical and content-driven B2B marcomms, and DECLARATION began trading in January 2001.It was soon apparent I had got it just right. Moreover, we began helping companies with far more than just media communications. We were soon producing – and still produce - copy for websites, newsletters, blogs, brochures and leaflets; indeed, we’ll turn our hand to any and all marketing material that needs a professional tone-of-voice and is written with the reader (and marcomms objectives) in mind.Today, DECLARATION is well respected and at the top of a very short list of agencies that combine engineering, journalism and PR/marketing skills. Moreover, I love what I do. In my dual role as an Account Manager and Technical Author, I am privileged to be working with some great companies, large and small, and all high-tech.As an engineer I get to ‘talk tech’ with our clients' engineers and as a journalist/marketeer I get to work closely with some great marketing and sales people; who don’t want to disturb their engineers too much [which is where I come in] and need some support when it comes to producing content [again, which is where I come in].On a final note, I’m also very approachable.
