The vision for the MBTC was to become the South of England's R & D, testing and "productionisation" hub for advanced marine technologies. These included autonomy, alternative propulsion, advanced materials and manufacturing. There was a strong focus on green technologies and environmental initiatives utilising our test bed in Plymouth Sound. Following the end of ERDF funding for the project, the programme has been recognised as an "exemplar" by the funder and we have supported over 400 businesses as well as developing Smart Sound Plymouth as a globally recognised centre of excellence for testing and proving emerging marine technologies. -
