With more than 21 years of combined military service in the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Army, I am a results-driven leader who specializes in leadership, emergency management, crisis communications, and performance assessment and improvement.I am currently a Chief Public Affairs Specialist and the Assistant Public Affairs Officer, US Coast Guard District 1.My job consists of crafting and executing strategic communication initiatives for one of the most critical Coast Guard districts. I oversee media relations, crisis communications, and community outreach, ensuring the Coast Guard's mission is effectively communicated to the public. Skilled in shaping narratives, I provide strategic counsel to senior leadership, manage digital platforms, and lead a team in delivering impactful public affairs projects. My role combines hands-on media management with high-level strategic planning to enhance maritime safety, environmental protection, and homeland security awareness.I have a dynamic track record of leading high-performance, cross-functional teams in demanding, rapidly changing environments. In my previous role as the supervisor of Public Affairs Detachment Los Angeles/Long Beach. before that, I was the Assistant Public Affairs Officer at Training Center Cape May, the sole Coast Guard accession point for enlisted members, I orchestrated over 100 high-profile, multi-camera livestream events, authored and distributed press releases featured in local and national publications, and developed public affairs guidance during the initial COVID-19 response. I am also a certified teaching instructor, having trained over 4,000 recruits. I have been recognized as the Coast Guard Employee of the Quarter and ranked among the top three for the Coast Guard Employee of the Year. My mission is to advance the Coast Guard's strategic goals and enhance its public image through effective communication and engagement with partners and the community.
