Managed a department of 15 full-time union employees in receiving and the internal distribution of all incoming scrap, alloys, and additives. Ordered, scheduled, and coordinated all deliveries for three conveyors, several silos, and two receiving areas. Distributed materials to the AOD, LMF, and largest EAF in the company. Maintained daily communication with several suppliers. Worked through several supply chain issues to ensure that production would not be delayed. Worked with production, maintenance, engineering, purchasing, and research to plan and execute major repairs, maintain, and make improvements for one flattening and coating electrical steel line and 20 batch annealing furnaces. Researched and implemented solutions for several minor upgrades and repairs. Our group has set new company records for quality loss in a quarter (Q2 2020) and tonnage produced in a single day including a world record for 14-mil regular grain oriented steel. Met with suppliers on a near daily basis to find ways to reduce/eliminate cost, quality failures, line stops, safety hazards, and environmental events through design and material improvements, new products, and trial and error. Formed new supplier relationships. Maintained and improved current supplier relationships. Investigated quality failures, safety incidents, unit stops, and other events using root cause analysis.Initiated, managed, and completed several lengthy projects including inspecting, removing, repairing, and replacing a state regulated chromic acid tank, stripping the interior shell and installing a new type of insulation to improve thermal properties on the flattening and coating line furnace, the removal, tear down, rebuild, and reinstallation of line critical machinery including side trimming heads, coiler reel, payoff reels, and the production build, structural repairs, and installation of a new wringer roll stand and hydraulic system.Engineered several line improvements including changing the expand/contract mechanism on our reel heads to improve the life and reliability, changing the punching material of a stitcher to extend the life by 75%, and changing the carbide grade of our slitter knives to increase life by 40%. Cut projected maintenance cost for batch annealing furnaces by $400k by investigating heat exchanger failures with a new vendor.Developed and implemented a location system for our new Oracle inventory system rollout.

Managed a department of over 65 full-time union employees on three trimming and three annealing and pickling units in the processing of various grades of stainless and electrical steel. Communicated with both internal customers and suppliers to ensure steel meets quality standards and corrected all material that fails to meet those standards. Worked with maintenance and engineering departments to discuss, plan, and execute unit repairs and improvements.

Co-led a cross functional team in a supplier consolidation project in the Sleep & Respiratory Care business group that led to $6 million in savings across two separate commodities. Supported Commodity Managers to develop and implement commodity strategies by creating RFQ packages, tracking savings, and managing pricing implementation. Maintained and improved supplier relations. Identified and pursued new opportunities for savings. Presented savings figures and status updates to management.Completed analysis of actual savings values as opposed to pre-calculated aggregated 12 month rolling invoices paid estimated savings figures. Each version of a savings calculation was used at various levels of the negotiation and project planning.
