As a member of a corporate team that was formed to evaluate the impact of new state and federal environmental regulations on operating processes, the primary challenge was to develop and execute projects that were necessary for compliance. This position provided capital project support for the entire La Porte site. The primary job responsibility was the development of front-end design packages for projects in the Olefins, Polymers, Vinyl Acetate (VAM), Syngas and Utilities units. This involved working as part of a team to develop project scopes (process, civil, electrical, mechanical, etc.).

As a project engineer for the Chlor-Pyridines production facility, my responsibilities included: development of the scope of work, process flowsheets, piping and instrument diagrams, & equipment specs. I lead the effort to generate cost estimates, ordered equipment, developed the bid packages, and worked with the Construction Coordinator to resolve issues.

My first assignment with Dow was as a process engineer in the Inorganic Research & Development group. My responsibilities included equipment design (primarily tower internals) and process optimization/troubleshooting using the Aspen Plus process simulation program in support of the Chlorinated Methanes production unit.
