In June 2018, I joined as the Managing Director of the Middle East and North Africa’s largest technology and innovation seed stage VC and acceleration program. Mandated, in co-ordination with Bahrain’s Labour Fund “Tamkeen”, to invest in 42 of the most promising early stage start-ups in the region, over a three-year period. Currently invested in 36 companies of which 65% of the portfolio have managed to achieve follow-on-funding just over 18 months of operating. Currently a board member on all 36 companies and actively advising on product development, operations, business development and fund raising.

In January 2011, I was employed by Bahrain's Economic Development Board as an Officer in the Business Development Department. In January 2013, I was promoted to Senior Officer. Finally, in 2014, I became the Manager of Manufacturing, Transportation and Logistics Team.As the Manager of Manufacturing Team in Business Development Department, I have work together with numerous government bodies and private-sector companies in order to create the optimal business environment for Bahrain. Our primary mandate is to attract foreign direct investment by striving to create the optimal investment climate. I have gained vital experience working at the EDB which includes the following:• Interfaced with key potential investors while taking the responsibility for nurturing important prospective investors through to the establishment of a Bahraini company.• Prepared and presented Bahrain’s Aluminum, Steel and Aviation sectors value propositions for the CEO’s 2012 operations plan. I was encouraged to present these propositions on numerous occasions due to its merits. • Undertook special assignments that were required and directed by the Department Head. These included preparation of RFP’s, proof reading proposals and the continual development of EDBs “Invest in Bahrain” Presentation. • Proactively attracted investments in priority sectors as identified in the Annual Operations Plan by executing delivery programs using targeted company research and a structured contact program. • Prepare, assist, managed and coordinated visits from Potential Investors and Inbound Delegations• Traveled with business delegations to several global locations to conduct one-to-one business meetings in order to pitch Bahrain as a location to do business.

In August 2007, I was employed by Ernst & Young as an Assistant Analyst in the Corporate Finance division known as Transaction Advisory Services. My main involvement included developing Business Plans, Feasibility Studies, Private Placement Memorandums, Confidential Information Memorandums and Valuations. I have gained invaluable experience working with clients in financial, airline, healthcare, real estate, retail, manufacturing and internet services industries. My responsibilities have included: • Working within a team to conduct extensive primary and secondary research on a specified industry of interest, with the basis of identifying the client’s potential economic and market operating environment; • Organising strategic workshops, typically for financial institutions and holding companies, in order to assist them in developing a strategic business plan with defined mission, vision, strategic goals as well as assisting them in redefining the business’s growth strategy;• Researched, consolidated and prepared information for creating informative presentations for Ernst & Young’s CEO, partners and higher management for client presentation purposes;• Secondment to a multinational insurance group in order to document and develop a strategic business case presentation for their respective Chairman. This presentation was presented to their regional board members and assisted in successfully obtaining approval for their expansion of business practices in three GCC countries;• Developed a strategic options report, inclusive of a financial model (over a five year period), for a multimillion dollar mixed use real estate development;• Ensured that an investment company’s compliance and regulatory requirements were fully fulfilled; and • Identified and documented a risk analysis for a client’s intended investment.In three years of joining Ernst & Young I was promoted two grades.

I accepted the role of marketing consultant at StartNow International Limited, an Internet based company, whilst studying for my bachelor of economics. My responsibilities included the organisation and management of the company’s affiliate portfolio database as well as access optimisation. My position involved the development and maintenance of relationships with various affiliates and companies at an international level. StartNow provided me with a superior knowledge of the functionality of Internet businesses as well as an opportunity to apply my financial market knowledge to a dotcom company.
