Provide support for network systems for both software and hardware to a 3rd line level with support of the rest of the Infrastructure Management Team. Respond to enquiries from clients or colleagues and help them to resolve hardware or software problems.

As a field engineer my role was to attend customer sites throughout the UK including Scotland and Wales to resolve hardware and software faults. The position mainly involved working independently, with the occasional requirement to work in teams of 2 to 3 engineers to complete a large project on target. Assisting the office based technical support and hardware repair teams. Provide training to people of different technical levels in the use of various hardware and software applications. Design, installation and maintenance of networks and related equipment including servers, pc, networking and cabling infrastructure.

This contracted role was created to assist with the migration of PCs from Novell Network to Microsoft Active Directory Network reporting to the Desktop Support Manager. Responsible for surveying, scheduling and implementing the migration of PCs and users which included the creation and administration of Active Directory accounts and migration of personal and shared data from Novel Servers to Active Directory Servers, which required good time management and organisational skills. Assist Desktop support team in hardware and software fault resolution.

This role involved a variety of work which included data cabling, basic desktop support, refurbishment of PCs and office administration. Initially this role was under the supervision of the Network Cabling Manager but I was also given the responsibility of carrying out projects independently both locally and nationally.
