Created and oversaw visual content and copy for the outward-facing communications of Joan Shannon’s Democratic primary and general election campaigns, based out of Burlington, VT. Deeply involved in overarching strategic decision-making process, debate preparation, policy articulation, speechwriting, as well as brand identity and design. Also part of core fundraising team, raising the highest amount from the greatest number of donors of any mayoral campaign in the history of the state.

Oversee all outward-facing communications, including donor appeals, grants, website content, and the presentation of physical assets in the community. Manage and maintain donor and volunteer record database, while serving as the organizational point of contact for our 300+ volunteers, donors, Board members, community partners, and contracted professionals. Conceived of and implemented the communications and fundraising strategies to raise record amounts during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, empowering the organization to continue producing works by converting our space into studios capable of supporting filmed and virtual presentations.Led the logistical transition to transform our physical space into a mask production facility, in coordination with public health leaders and governmental agencies, ultimately producing 27,000 masks for the region.Coordinated the completion of a years-long $1.4M Capital Campaign to purchase and renovate our headquarters, as well as developed and initiated a monthly giving program aimed at new donors.

Coordinated various strategic and logistical aspects of donor retention and development, community building, and materials production—including a successful $2.2M capital campaign to convert a defunct school into a thriving community center. Additionally, I served as project manager for multiple major annual events for hundreds on donors, community members, and residents, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars and increasing membership for the organization, working closely with our CEO, Director of Community Relations, and Board.Project Manager for successful software transition from Raiser’s Edge to Salesforce for use as primary membership and donor database.Conceived of and initiated the launch of the “Drinks on the House” series, expanding our membership toward young professionals.

Worked with and on behalf of clients dealing with the financial implications of domestic violence,particularly those facing eviction, those who were precariously housed, or in the process of making a plan to flee dangerous living situations and identifying secure safe, affordable housing options.Negotiated on behalf of clients with landlords, financial institutions, government agencies andcreditors, all while providing emotional support on an emergency basis, explaining possible resources, and building safety plans. Conceived of and implemented a Financial Literacy Clinic in coordination with OpportunitiesCredit Union, to expand financial offerings to previously unbanked or underbanked survivors ofdomestic violence.Represented the organization and movement at fundraising events, academic forums, and community panels and committees. This work included providing testimony for legislative committees at the Vermont State House.

Oversaw the intake and processing of applications while serving as liaison between applicants,their representatives, and Champlain Housing Trust, the largest community land trust in the nation. Also responsible for posting and allocating thousands of rental payments and subsidies every month.Instituted and co-authored the addition of a Housing Resource Recommendation Guide forapplicants that were unable to be housed, connecting them with partner organizations andagencies. In addition to re-organizing and facilitating major changes to the application andreferral process, I worked closely on connecting various community players and programs with individuals and families that were seeking affordable housing.
