About Ryan Fox
I work with private individuals to enable them to structure their property and financial affairs and effect necessary arrangements to secure a smooth and tax efficient transfer of their assets to their intended beneficiaries through lifetime and testamentary planning. I also assist clients with the winding up deceased individuals’ estates, efficiently and sympathetically. As a Partner of the full service law firm Aberdein Considine, I am well placed to assist clients from all walks of life. Aberdein Considine prides its accessibility to clients and offers a full range of property, legal and financial services, and I work closely with our other legal and professional advisors to ensure our clients receive holistic advice. Initially joining Aberdein Considine’s Private Client Department as a Trainee Solicitor in January 2006, I was assumed as a Partner in December 2017. With over 16 years of experience in private client work, I head a team of solicitors and paralegals based in the firm’s north east offices. My work generally focusses on two key areas:-1. Executries - I have developed extensive experience in the administration of estates, including dealing with taxable and contentious estates and estates involving businesses and international elements. Clearly a very difficult time for the bereaved family members or other individuals with an interest in the estate, my colleagues and I aim to deal with matters as efficiently and sympathetically as possible.2. Succession planning – Dealing with executry work has highlighted the importance of clients undertaking succession planning, so as to:-● maximise the benefit and ease the executry process for their intended beneficiaries;● cater for vulnerable beneficiaries; and● avoid unnecessary taxes and other pitfalls. I have become heavily involved in advising clients in this regard, considering their circumstances, setting out options to them in clear and understandable terms, and utilising Wills, Trusts and Powers of Attorney to enable them to achieve their desired outcomes. With my experience and in being able to tap into the knowledge of our advisors in other practice areas, as a firm Aberdein Considine offer clients expertise in all aspects of private client work. Whether you are an individual looking for assistance in succession planning or executry matters, or a professional advisor with clients of their own who would benefit from my expertise, feel free to contact me for an initial discussion as to how I or my colleagues can help. Partner ● Private Client ● Succession Planning - Wills, Trusts, Powers Of Attorney ● Ne ScotlandI have focused on private client work – succession planning and executries – throughout my legal career, and have developed over 16 years of experience and expertise assisting private individuals in this area.Clients can have a misconception that succession planning is only for the wealthy, but that is far from the case. Succession planning includes putting in place appropriate measures to, e.g.:-● mitigate inheritance tax;● protecting assets from long term care costs;● protect young or vulnerable beneficiaries;● balance potentially competing interests of beneficiaries;● ensure continuity in respect of succession to business interest; and● reduce difficulties in the event of incapacity. Most clients will find at least one of these to be of relevance, and will benefit from professional advice in that regard. I recognise, however, that each client’s circumstances and priorities differ, and they require bespoke advice and solutions to achieve their objectives. Some aspects of succession planning can be complex, and I set out options, including the use of Wills, Trusts and Powers of Attorney, in as simple terms as possible, to aid clients to make informed decisions.I also have extensive experience in the administration of estates, including dealing with taxable and contentious estates and estates involving businesses and international elements, guiding executors through the formal “Confirmation” process as efficiently and sympathetically as possible, and enabling them to fulfil their responsibilities to beneficiaries and relevant third parties. Please feel free to contact me to discuss how I or my colleagues can help with succession planning or executry matters.Ryan FoxPartner, Aberdein Considine✉ rfox@acandco.com☎ 01569 768896
