I have always been a philosophically oriented person, incessantly questioning the relationship between form and content, nature and society, and human values. I pursued a bachelors of science in neuroscience and philosophy from Northeastern University not only to buttress my epistemic foundations, but to understand the nature of value as such.Afterwards I began to apply my knowledge to questions regarding the value of goods circulating in the broader economy, especially the value of fine art. Art is a fascinating good--for example, a Rothko does not serve an explicit useful function, like gasoline or food, but nonetheless achieves levels of speculative value affordable only to the ultra wealthy. This is a testament to the latent aesthetic values humans project onto goods and services. Aesthetic value is not an essence, but rather a dynamic interplay of actions within the broader market. In terms of quantitative value, financial institutions backtest and model markets in hopes of achieving profits. Today companies hedge through big data and machine learning algorithms, but there will always exist unknowns in determining the quantified financial value of goods and services. I have reason to believe I am well suited to decipher unknown variables. I am currently using my skills in object oriented programming to develop reliable trading strategies, and hope to soon break into the financial sector. I am also deeply invested in the path toward artificial general intelligence. Given my background in neuroscience, I cannot help but attempt analogies between large language model architectures brain architecture. Reliable cognitive theorizing is probably far off save for extended metaphors, but it is fun to thought experiment. As such, I also spend my time learning data science libraries like PyTorch, TensorFlow, NumPy, Pandas, etc, in order to apply my knowledge and keep learning.
