My dream was to be a professional golfer, turns out you need to be better than a 4 handicap to make the tour! Somehow all of those countless hours at the golf course led to an exciting and successful career in the retail field. The success of my team and organization are now my daily passion, or where I spend my time. This is my new “driving range”! I now have roughly 10 years of experience under my belt. During those 10 years, I’ve learned just how similar golf and the retail industry are. You need trust, integrity, and the desire to want to continue to learn if you want to keep growing. In every position I've held from a category manager to now Vice President of Marketing, I have kept that same mindset. I think that's what sets me apart from most people, my desire to want to get better no matter the level or title I hold. In golf we talk about perfection being unattainable, I find that to be true in retail as well. There is always a margin of error that will occur, no matter how well prepared you are. In golf, we often say the guy who misses the best will usually win that day. The same thing goes for retail, I know I'm going to miss, I know my team is going to miss. The good news is I’ve practiced for over 10 years now, so my misses have become smaller and smaller. I took all of those misses and learned from them. It wasn’t the good rounds or successful promotions that made me the person I am today, it was the bad rounds and marketing plans that didn’t go right that I learned from that helped me grow. I have a proven track record of success at every level I have worked at in the retail business. My Professional Skills are Contract Negotiation, Marketing Management, Budgeting, Market & Strategic Planning, Pricing, Promotions, Merchandising, Food Service, P&L Management, and Team building to list a few. Strong marketing professional with a Bachelor of Science (BS) focused in Marketing from Northern Illinois University - College of Business.
