In my time at westconn, I have studied privately with prominent jazz performers Jimmy Greene and Jumaane Smith, and local Ct jazz performers Atla and Matt DeChamplain. In my time here, I have flourished as a saxophonist and flutist In each musical idiom. Often, I am asked by my peers for knowledge of music theory. Theory 1-4/ jazz arranging/ jazz theory are all internalized, and now I study from yusef lateef and Dave liebmans books about advanced melodic/ harmonic constructions. I think that the playing ability combined with experience working with great educators and helping my peers to learn would make me a great asset to any music studio. In addition, I have one saxophone student who I've been giving private lessons for almost a year now; he made it into both the Eastern Region Jazz and Concert bands, and our areas of study have included repertoire, technique, ear training, basic theory, and improvisation.
