I am the founder of Ashmead Law. I have represented clients in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. I have also represented clients in commercial arbitrations, with the last one conducted entirely on Zoom.My clients often have complex, multiparty disputes over commercial leases, real estate developments, and business contracts. My clients also have employment issues, in the provincial and federal sectors, and licensing or permitting issues. Additionally, I have represented clients with catastrophic injuries, and I have had success in trial in personal-injury cases. I articled in Vancouver at a major national law firm. I then practiced as a corporate lawyer handling various facets of a public company’s legal affairs including IPOs and general meetings. I also drafted commercial contracts such as shareholder agreements and asset purchase agreements. I earned my Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto, and my Bachelor of Science (with Distinction) in Economics from the University of Victoria.I was a senior editor of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law Review, and I wrote papers for the Continuing Legal Education Society on commercial litigation and on working with government. I have won awards as a public speaker, in competitions through Toastmasters. I have also volunteered as the President of my strata corporation and as a director of the Victoria Bar Association. I was born in Victoria. I pitched a winning game in the provincial championships for Senior Babe Ruth Baseball, and I rowed in a coxed four on the Stelly's team in the high school championships on Elk Lake.
