I am a strategic and highly efficient engineering manager with 10+ years of experience leading teams to successful completion of systems design and infrastructure projects. I specialize in design management for non-safety I&C (instrumentation and control) of plant operations. In my current role with TerraPower, I direct the full scope of I&C functions with oversight of 37 systems. This is a green field design setting, progressing through preliminary design and requirements development to commissioning. I have enjoyed the challenges of leading teams in innovative design of new operations and methods. I believe that nuclear power is pivotal in humanity's hope to preserve our planet and meet our energy needs. I love physics and electronics, and I&C is a union of the two for me.My strengths are centered in defining technical strategy, requirements, and work scope to align with nuclear regulations and industry standards. I am adept in developing control philosophy, algorithm, mathematical modeling, and simulation to achieve innovative designs with appropriate functions, features, performance, and margin across plant modes of operation. I have led initiatives to ensure operational compliance per the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and industry standards, including creating NRC reports for an advanced fuel handling system, and directing the design and development of a core portion of the first-ever NRC docketed construction permit application for a non-light water reactor. As a result of my demonstrated expertise in regulations and compliance, I have been asked to present on technical topics, lead focus group discussions, and contribute to thought leadership and development of advanced regulations for the NRC.I am passionate about cultivating teamwork and loyalty.
