About Ryan Beckwith
Ryan Beckwith is the owner/operator of A3 Sports & Wellness, Inc. and has helped thousands of athletes achieve their goals in sport (and life) over the last 20 years as a coach and educator. His specialties are biomechanics, speed and power, weightlifting for athletes, and developing the holistic athlete.Ryan was a three-sport athlete in high school and received a football scholarship to California State University, Northridge where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies. He also competed in track and field. He transferred to the University of Georgia where he competed in track and field while earning his Master of Education degree in Sport Management.Ryan began his career at the University of Georgia as he served as the Associate Director of the Georgia G-Club as well as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, where he assisted in the teaching of Speed Mechanics to the UGA Football Program. He then moved back to the west coast to work at UCLA and served as the Head Strength Coach for various teams including Soccer, Tennis, and Track, Rowing, and the Assistant Strength Coach for Football and Basketball.While at UCLA, Ryan also served as a guest lecturer for Exercise Science with UCLA Extension. After several successful seasons, Ryan accepted a position as the first-ever Director of Speed, Strength, and Conditioning at the prominent Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo, CA, where he was also the Sprint Coach for Varsity Track. Ryan later served as the Assistant Track and Field Coach and Strength at Conditioning Coach for Basketball at the College of San Mateo, in addition to being an Adjunct Instructor. He has also been a personal fitness trainer at an elite sports club and a Director of Athletic Performance at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.After 11 years on a career path, Ryan made the difficult decision to pursue his long-held dream of competing in the Olympics as a Decathlete. He committed to training full time as a professional athlete. He continued to train and compete after meeting his wife and moving to Bakersfield. Once living in Bakersfield, Ryan accepted the position as Director of Athletics at Bakersfield College and “retired the spikes”. After two years as a college administrator, Ryan greatly missed having a direct impact on student-athletes as a coach and returned to doing what he loves most.Ryan founded A3 Sports & Wellness, Inc. in 2013, and the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Athletes’ Advantage Academy, Inc. became official in 2014.
