Have you ever known a person that was so dead set on something they would do anything to get it? Well, then if you do, you have a pretty good idea of who I am. I grew up in a small suburban town on the outskirts of Philadelphia. To give you a better idea, my parents bought the land for their house from a farm where no other houses existed. As a kid I had friends, but no other kids nearby in my neighborhood. That lead to a lot of my time being spent indoors with video games. This fostered a somewhat unique aptitude in my upbringing. Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, Pokémon – they have objectives that need to be accomplished. Before I had known it setting and achieving goals had become second nature to me, but that wasn’t all. With it, I had been ingrained with the determination to finish something from beginning to end once I had my mind to it.Fast forward to now and that same tenacity and drive still lives strong. It brought me into a career in the film and television industry where I didn’t know a soul but had the desire and determination to will it into fruition. I can trace many of my skills back to my roots as one of the 90’s video game children. There’s pattern recognition for some things (K.Rool gets back up at the end of Donkey Kong Country), and intense critical thinking and creative problem solving for others (which combination of blocks lead to better combos in Tetris Attack). When something’s not working I take a moment to analyze what may have gone wrong and what can be done to fix it. As a technical professional, that’s the bread and butter of what I do.
