My playpen as a baby was in an old fashioned small town full service gas station that my parents ran so I literally grew up in the automotive service business. After my parents went to work with the Black family in their tire business when I was a young kid, my grandparents continued to run Cego Service Center in Cerro Gordo, NC until they retired decades later. Afternoons, Saturdays & Summers were spent learning the ins & outs of every aspect of the tire & automotive industry from back to front. Shops & warehouses were major parts of the landscape for my childhood in which many colorful characters painted the story for our family business that we treasure today. My brothers, parents, cousins, & friends that I get to work with are only a part of what makes Black’s Tire special as the many great people whom I feel blessed to share the responsibility for keeping our almost century old company going takes the cake!
