At SMA we focus on providing water and wastewater engineering consulting services to Navajo, Pueblo, and Apache Native American communities. I am involved with infrastructure projects from conception to completion. These are some of the things I've been doing.Contribute to Preliminary Engineering Reports and grant applications to acquire USDA, Navajo Abandoned Mine Lands, & State of NM Tribal infrastructure Funding.Perform data collection and field-staking for water transmission pipelines.Build WaterCAD and Excel based models of proposed and existing water transmission and distribution systems.Reiview and revise AutoCad plan & profile and detail drawings.Research, write, and update technical specifications.Obtain pipeline and site right-of-way from BLM (federal), Navajo Nation, and State of New Mexico.Review contractor submittals.QA/QC analysis of HDPE pipe fusion reports.Meetings with clients and contractors:-Meetings with tribal authorities and community members to engage them in the funding, design, and management of projects.-Pre construction meetings, final inspections, equipment start-up.

• Collaborated with the community of Rio Grande al Medio as project engineer to construct a new potable water system that serves 74 homes, two schools, health clinic, and townhall.• Helped the Water Committee of Rio Grande al Medio become a sustainable institution capable of maintaining its water system.• Gave technical assistance to at least five other communities in the construction and maintenance of spring intake works, ferrocement water tanks, and pipelines.• Performed site development in 7 communities to assist Peace Corps place new volunteers.• Worked with community leaders and Volunteers to form a regional Water System Association to support over thirty ‘Peace Corps’ water systems.• Applied and improved skills in cross-cultural integration, Spanish, engineering design, project management, plumbing, and masonry construction.

• Assisted project engineers in all aspects of potable water and sanitation projects for small communities and single homes.• Revised drawings and wrote specifications, engineer’s estimates, and front-end documents for a water distribution system.• Performed site evaluations for septic and drainfield design.• Met with tribal government, homeowners, and contractors in the field to discuss operations issues, construction progress, and future projects.

• Contributed to multiple team projects simultaneously.• Wrote bulletins and procedures to communicate environmental topics.• Developed an hour-long PowerPoint presentation to train refinery operators.

• Worked on a field survey crew – collecting data and guiding construction.• Designed, drew, and revised civil engineering plans and survey drawings.• Compiled engineer’s estimates for construction projects.

• Worked with a team of facility supervisors to streamline inspection forms.• Visited facilities to answer questions and carry out inspections.• Assisted in the application process for government issued permits.
