I think one of the most satisfying things in life is taking things apart, figuring out how they work, and finding ways to use that understanding. It's a passion that has helped with everything from understanding the mechanics of a board game to find the winning strategy, to establishing processes and creating tools to managing a billion-dollar line of business.I served in the Marine Corps early in my professional life. Even there my job was primarily on computers, but it also taught invaluable skills that are a part of my core today: hard work, a drive for efficiency, and a confidence that I could conquer any problem.Since then I have had the chance to function in many roles in a corporate environment, and I have been lucky to work for a company that encouraged me to grow my skills and make the area around me better. It started small, learning Visual Basic so I could create a new tool that would save time for our internal users deliver a better product for our clients. From there it grew into SharePoint development and workflow automation, then working with our internal development team to develop a software asset management tool that we use to help our clients manage their Microsoft Enterprise contracts. Today I lead a high-performing, international team of 20 individuals, providing Microsoft licensing services to clients in the United States.In each new role, that basic love of understanding how things work, finding opportunities to make them better, and learning the skills to implement them, has been the highlight of the experience. The skills hardest to learn have also been the most rewarding.
