Field Engineer
Current• PSC Field Engineer for BPA’s Eugene District encompassing the service territories of Alvey Maintenance Headquarters and North Bend Maintenance Headquarters.• Serves as primary point of contact for district PSC capital work: scheduling work, procuring materials, coordinating with supporting crafts, contractors, and design engineers; conducting test and energization of new PSC equipment, performing onsite quality control for new equipment installations.• Frequently called upon to resolve or consult for hard to diagnose or recurring problems with telecommunications equipment. Performs hands-on troubleshooting and corrective work on PSC equipment; familiar with use of telecommunications test equipment and tools.• Regularly acts as District Engineer (DE) during absences: prioritizing, planning and directing work, coordinating with other trades, representing DE at meetings, and updating DE upon return. Created well-received OneNote repository for weekly crew planning, site specific information and to-do lists, status of capital projects, and tracking administrative tasks. Reviews Project Requirements Diagrams (PRDs) and suggests improvements to designs that reduce cost and improve expected reliability.• Assists in planning preventative maintenance, as-built verification of drawings, and maintenance process improvement (trialing new work guides, sharing lessons-learned across BPA PSC). Performs CIP (Critical Infrastructure Protection) audits within district; ensures compliance with cybersecurity standards. Performs inspections and corrective work needed for compliance to PSC Alerts (notices of system wide deficiencies on PSC equipment).• Represents BPA at outreach events, interfaces with outside organizations for special projects (joint use agreements, repair and modernization of shared jurisdiction equipment, access road improvements, site security concerns), administrator for GETS/WPS program at BPA.
