Over the last 25 years I have had many different types of jobs. I have learned a tremendous amount from all of my experiences. However, I would say I definitely learned the most during the year of 2017. My wife and I went into a business partnership with 2 of our close friends. My wife and I put up all the "equity", and our partners were to put in the "sweat equity". We quickly learned our trusted friends/partners had been inflating their abilities to run a cafe. It quickly turned from an investment, to a "protect or assets" situation. We had to put all our plans on hold and begin helping full time with everything. We instantly went from investors to Managers, Buyers, Cooks, Servers, Accountants, etc. Basically we became employees of our own investment overnight. It was a huge life change that we hadn't expected, but we went with it and did our best. I learned more about business, operations, ethics and people in that one year than I ever could have imagined. Unfortunately, at the end of the first year we decided to part ways, but it was an eye opening experience and we got 2 very toxic individuals out of our lives.
