About Ryan Broderick
Ryan Broderick is a Senior Director of Analytics at DraftKings at DraftKings Inc.. He possess expertise in strategy, analytics, analysis, financial analysis, data analysis and 21 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "I had the pure pleasure of working under Ryan, who is more a mentor than a boss. During the time I worked as a Senior Quantitative Analyst at OneMain Financial (2017-18), I constantly felt that I couldn’t have made a better decision in choosing the company, the team, and the supervisor. Of all the things I learned and observed from Ryan, the words I have here are only like a trailer to the full movie. Ryan has an infrared ability to see the subtext of what someone wants from their data request. When someone asks, ‘how many customers did this partner bring last week?’, he knows that what they are actually looking for is, ‘should we use the risk model tested on this partner on the rest of our partners?’. This innate ability sets him miles apart from most people. So, he is the default person anyone with any strategic analytics request would go for, as he knows what they want more than themselves. While getting the insights from the data is one thing, conveying the insights is a different game. Ryan has a powerful sense of storytelling. He can customize the story based on the pulse of the audience and knows how to trigger the right expectations in all. If everyone is looking at how the overall traffic decreased, while that story happened in only one group of customers, he has the master zoom lens that pulls everybody into that story. In all the stages and times, Ryan is a truly supportive leader who believes in the growth of his team. There was NEVER a time when he was not available to help or stand up for the team. And he always took the time and effort to coach us on things ranging from cross-functional work dynamics to technical skills, provide opportunities for business presentations, and share valuable constructive feedback. Ryan has my highest recommendation for any role he wishes to pursue. He would be a tremendous addition to any team."

Director Of Analytics
Chief Of Business Analytics
Vice President - Head Of Card Acquisition Analytics
Recruited to lead Acquisition Analytics at Fifth Third Bank. Originally the role was focused on credit cards but my scope has recently expanded to include ownership of home equity and personal loan programs.Channel ownership includes direct mail, digital and branch acquisitions for all of the above products.Additionally, my team owns product valuations for the above products. We used discounted cash flows to evaluate revenue and cost drivers and optimize marketing based on expected profitability. This role is an exciting hybrid of hands on analytics (focused on opportunities to teach my extended team efficient analytical practices) with team development, strategic ideation and delegating to multiple parties - direct reports, partner teams and other stakeholders. Due to our large scope and limited resources, my team shines through technical expertise and task automation as well as a focused dedication to maximizing efficiency during work hours,
Vice President / Director
Selected by the Chief Analytics Officer to lead the Digital Affiliate Analytics team. The Affiliate channel grew to the largest origination channel under our ownership, generating over 300,000 personal loans per year on a marketing budget of $60 million. Instrumental in launching and optimizing Instant Pre-Qualification channel with key partners such as Credit Karma, Lending Tree and Lending Club (50+ active affiliates in network).Led all analytics related to digital acquisition funnel, underwriting modifications based on differentiated risk and account profitability.
Analytics Manager
I continued to expand my Direct Mail experience by leading analytics and selection for Present Customer and Former Customer campaigns. Renewing current loan customers is a vital part of the continued growth strategy at OMF. Key projects include tailored, individual level offer logic based on historical loan performance and aggressive, industry-leading acquisition strategies. This role also included ownership of our outbound telemarketing channel. This program did not exist when I started and we were able to launch a pilot with a small subset of our branch network. Through excellent results, leveraging third party vendors and clear demonstration of the value generated we were able to grow this into a rollout program across the network, generating thousands of incremental loans at CPAs below $100.
Analytics Lead
I owned a wide range of responsibilities relating to the active customer portfolio and the former customer portfolio. My projects ranged from direct marketing, risk analytics, profitability optimization and operational efficiency. We managed multiple vendor relationships to reach out to our customer base through a number of channels.
Manager
I was a business manager in the Quantitative Management Group at Merkle Inc. I worked with multiple clients in the financial services industry to design, optimize and report on DM marketing campaigns. Clients were based throughout the US and I was supported by a team of analysts in Shanghai. We provided a wide array of services to our clients - building statistical models, database creation, strategy, campaign execution and reporting. We helped our clients optimize their cost to acquire and overall portfolio mix for various types of accounts.
Sr. Business Analyst - Digital Marketing Strategy
I was the business intent lead for implementation of Adobe's SiteCatalyst software for web analytics on the majority of Capital One's acquisition website. As the intent lead, I coordinated the analytical requirements from multiple lines of business. I worked with our digital architecture team to actually implement the requirements and ensure that our web page provides valuable data to our analysts. As I learned about our constraints and opportunities, I communicated them back to my leadership and made trade-off decisions. While we planned for execution, I worked with our data analysts to create detailed validation plans to ensure our project is a success.I also helped manage our online pre-qualification tools (Consumer and Small Business), which book over 1 million customers per year. Similar to my previous role, I used Capital One's proprietary statistical models to determine which visitors receive pre-qualified offers based on their risk profiles. We also determined which products are offered to customers to best fit their needs. Additionally, I designed and implemented creative tests to quantify impact of multiple variables in our web page presentation. My goal was to increase the number of accounts that we book through this channel and the test added an expected $5 million NPV per year.
Sr. Business Analyst - Dm Marketing Strategy
In July 2011, I had the opportunity to leverage my professional network to move out of Operations and into a more strategic Business Analyst position in Customer Acquisitions. While there, I managed our pre-screen direct mail marketing strategy for 2 customer segments: Superprime and New to Credit. As the analyst responsible for the channel, I was in charge of monitoring our performance and ensuring flawless execution for each campaign. Using SAS, SQL databases and MS Office tools, I created and maintained the assumptions and frameworks we used to run the business and our investment decision process. As performance changed, I would conduct deep dive analyses to understand the root cause of the problem and present my results to our executives. The strategic part of the role involved designing and implementing in-market tests to obtain new insights into consumer behavior and maximize response to our mail solicitations. These tests were varied and included new product terms, mail cadences, targeting frameworks and creative changes. In addition, much of my time was spent designing tests and analyzing data to understand the interaction between difference marketing channels (direct mail, TV and internet advertising) in order to design an optimized, integrated marketing campaign.
Sr. Operations Analyst - Core Services
In my 2nd role at Capital One, I spent about 9 months supporting our largest call queue, Core Servicing. This general service queue consists of roughly 1,500 agents throughout the world and handles over 10 million calls per year.I provided detailed analyses, which enabled the operations managers to drive improvements to our processes. I had 2 primary goals in this role: increase customer satisfaction and reduce operational costs. Using internal and external data sources, I was able to quantify the impact of supplier behaviors and corporate initiatives on both goals and inform our future footprint planning. We traveled to Nicaragua and El Salvador to meet with some of our largest global suppliers. While there, I had the opportunity to observe call center operations, conduct focus groups and advise site leadership on numerous topics. It was also an excellent opportunity to build my network and learn more about how business is conducted in foreign cultures.
Operations Analyst - Forecasting
My first role at Capital One was on the call volume forecasting team. We were responsible for creating detailed call volume forecasts, to the daily level, for each of our 15+ call servicing queues. These forecasts were used to create staffing plans and set annual budgets in excess of $100 million. When I moved to the team, there were certain areas in the business that were not receiving support from the forecasting team. Over my first year, I developed an interactive communication model with the previously unsupported department and integrated that team into the overall forecasting process. This significantly reduced their weekly call volume variance from 30 - 40%+ to 10 - 15%.I also managed the project sizing for our team. Whenever Capital One makes a change with an impact to customers (strategic- or regulation-driven), there is a corresponding impact to call volume. In order to prepare for these changes, I had to build a wide network through the company to stay informed. As upcoming network initiatives were planned, I used historical data to size the expected customer response and communicate the impact to my internal customers.
Intern
Internships at Enterprise Rent-A-Car place you in a small branch (4 - 6 employees) and offer ownership, accountability and the chance to make a difference immediately. Sales were a key component to the experience and we were ranked on various sales metrics such as damage waiver packages, extra liability packages, used car sale leads and corporate account leads. Due to the small office culture, I also gained broader experience in managing a small business. I had access to our P&L, balance sheet and other financial documents that compared our branch against the others in our region. Each employee had autonomy to make pricing adjustments in order to close a sale and we had visibility into our impact on revenue. We also marketed to local body shops, mechanics and car dealerships to persuade them to exclusively use our services. In my time with Enterprise, I created and implemented a new performance metric tracking system for my small office. This increased the level of friendly competition in the office, leading to overall improvements. I was awarded the Top Intern award in Central New Jersey due to my performance in sales and customer service.
