Most recently have been working as a lead Engineering Estimator for a consulting firm that deals in Architecture, Engineering, Procurement & Construction Management at Middough Project Solutions. This role was a firm push of my engineering knowledge boundaries, in all engineering disciplines from Civil to Electrical.Expanding from my previous capacity handling small cap (<$10,000,000) projects in an Oil Refinery and then combining that with my knowledge as the lead estimator and crew coordinator of a construction company allowed me to take on scope of large scale capital projects, with one or two as large as $100,000,000.High-level technical understanding across multiple fields allows me to clearly communicate complexity in a simple way. And because I have heightened empathy I am highly adaptive to changing conditions along with the needs of my team. I have experience prioritizing the prevention of high-cost impact items, analyzing data to project shifting labor/material/business landscapes. Incredibly passionate about team-building. It is absolutely key in a high-performance environment. Other features: 0 difficulty working with anyone ever, field work I find both useful and exciting, very familiar with many types of drawings and have adapted to several state of the art estimating and project management systems I am a reputable and detailed estimator with broad industrial and construction experience. Working on projects spanning multiple states faces you either dealing with local municipalities codes and legislation in combination with coordinating large-scale speciality contractors and long-lead time items. It is a feeling of deep satisfaction when you are able to conceive of ideas on that scale and then help guide them into reality!

Aceei Estimating EngineerMiddough Inc. Nov 2022 - PresentCleveland, Oh, UsComposition of highly detailed and client specific estimates to provide cost models and updates throughout a projects’s lifecycle. In early phases of design, it is simply your job to be able to “fill all gaps” by having enough headspace to conceptualize the entire job, including the sizes, quantity, labor costs, labor rates (producer price index or core/undistorted inflation numbers along with federally mandated Davis Bacon wage rates.and spec of any item in any discipline: Architectural, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing, Process Facilities/HVAC, Piping, Process Equipment, Electrical, and I&C). Kinda makes my head spin and I feel the program needs an overhaul to make it sustainable.Very professional environment surrounded by good people who are smart and want to help. It has been good getting back into it after losing many family members. The results feel amazing but I don’t want to feel like I like I just crammed for finals each time we have a deliverable. While highly informative and whine I’m certainly achieving much growth, at times it feels that spreading yourself thin is detrimentalThe opportunity I face is coming up with a company-wide paradigm shift. In the face of evolving technologies, and while intimidating, it’s something that is imperative for survival in this new climate. -
Plant EngineerMichigan City Sanitary District Sep 2018 - Aug 2020Michigan City Sanitary District Plant Engineer responsible for retrofitting the plant and cityNew filter building discharge pump replacement t.Aeration turbocompressor comprehensive system evaluation with onsite testing with a team of electricians to determine true efficiency points and thus achieved increasing monthly year-over-year savings using capacitors + shared load of the compressors to reduce a “spike” in demand that would cause major price increases.Worked to upgrade the old SCADA system as I had recommended the use of magnetic flow meters (after manually verifying we were getting a mass imbalance due to its reading and not a misreading at our outfall weirs). Automation, alarms, redundant systems. Also worked in the lab analyzing the water quality from a dump site that we rehabilitated into a park with a beach. Oh and I also created a new “flood trackin” categorization system. I worked with their GIS coordinator to take every residential complaint and put them on a map. Investigate the root cause, propose a solution along with multiple options with cost ranges assigned (allowing us to prioritize the severity of each issue and rank them). This I came up from scratch, just good common sense. In many cases, depending on the water table depth and soil conditions, a simple dry well with French tiles is more than enough to handle the water below ground. Since I’ve had them cast many times for other occasions, I required the dry-wells be made with open bottoms (limestone bedding) and required that they have holes bored in a lattice pattern. By designing this way, using the porosity of the soil and other factors such as approximate puddle volume and duration it took for each area to drain (yes I homeowners time them :) Using a safety factor based on worst case scenario based on soil conditions SO, that solved a lot of customer/resident problems and allowed us to identify larger areas that needed entire, below-ground/carrier pipe, reconfiguration.

Lead Estimator Project Manager (Vp Technically)H&G Underground Utilities Nov 2017 - Aug 2019I was hired in to establish a brand new $30,000 program asome Industry leading software designed specifically for underground construction projects (B2W- Bid to Win). Hubris aside, I did win. A lot, by minuscule margins, beating the other bidders by sometimes less than 1% on a ~$2,000,000 job. The owners taught me how to run the business and estimate by hand. Then I translated into the software. Got soooo much vendor pricing data from three local suppliers (CoreMain, Furgeson, and Etna) over the course of bidding projects both large, as aforementioned, but also for bidding jobs in which had to squeeze through msuffocating “Michigan Style basements to determine both water entry and sanitary exit locations. Then I’d write that up, review with the owners, and knock it out. Also got experience with accounts billable and tracking Net profit margin on a more technical level. Going from a multinational corporation that won’t hesitate to run that knife into you, to a small scale, 5-crew, ~26 people on the payroll, company; well, it gives you quite a shift in perspective.

Process Design EngineerExxonmobil 2015 - Feb 2017UsAs a process design engineer, part of the on-site capital projects organization, the business need/scope of each project was accomplished through careful collaboration between technical experts and project managers. Coordinating and communicating with various ExxonMobil areas of discipline (eg. Reliability Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Safety and Environmental Engineers) was key in accurately assigning improvement priorities and establishing a reasonable timeline.Understanding throughly both the global and local standards as well as digesting the available technical information (Mechanical Flow Diagrams, data sheets, computational models) required precision such that no detail of the design would be noncompliant. From here, multiple solutions were considered in the initial phases of design and a balance must be established, based on cost analysis, to eliminate over-designed solutions and screen solutions that may not be the best option for long-term improvement. After selecting the proper solution, calculations or computational models are created/corrected for additions to the system. For example, if adjusting a flow rate and subsequently the line-sizing, these changes may impact the hydraulics of the system and possibly create overpressure scenarios that were previously absent. The design engineer must manage these changes through meticulous documentation, communication with pertinent departments, updates to relevant flow diagrams, ect. All of this information is then transcribed into a governing Process Design Specification document, requiring management approvals and ensuring proper awareness. As the project moves past the initial design phase and is funded, feedback and follow-ups must be incorporated and red-lined drawings are discussed with the Estimator in order to provide a relatively accurate cost before detailed engineering. As changes are continuously made through start-up, project juggling, across all design phases, quickly became a skill. -
Manufacturing EngineerProcter & Gamble May 2013 - Aug 2014Cincinnati, Ohio, UsDuring my internship at P&G's newest paper production facility, my responsibilities consisted primarily of managing a wide array of projects with the use of chemical engineering knowledge. In this manufacturing engineering role, I was responsible for overseeing the problem solving, planning, revision and installation of, for example, plate heat exchangers in order to control the ambient temperature on the process floor. This project required a thorough understanding of the entire HVAC system, specifically the open-loop air handling units. Other projects included assessing the economic feasibility of implementing a fully automated fork-lift fleet; reworking the ladder logic of key instruments in order to avoid points of failure during process start-up; altering the design of a paper core bin in order to improve safety and workflow; creating and planning for the stock of a serious-incident safety trailer; reworking the digital product control and release database network to become more user friendly for the employees; installing strainers of the correct micron mesh size and metallurgy in order to prevent spray nozzles issues; and rolling out a change in protocol that prevented workers from working near a suspended load. -
Waterfront Lifeguard Head ManagerMichigan City Parks And Recreation Department May 2008 - Sep 2012As an employee with the Michigan City Parks and Recreation Department for five summers, I attained a management position in 2010 and became the head of beach management when I was 19. Through collaboration and close radio communication with the local United States Coast Guard Station 25511; Michigan City Police and Fire Departments; as well as LaPorte County Dispatch, Emergency Response Teams, and DNR; we were able to make Washington Park’s facilities and waters a more safe place for patrons to enjoy.
