Ryan’s work integrates site-specific factors and the social history of place to create thoughtful and authentic architecture. Drawn to architecture as a means of building imagined worlds within our perceived environment, he has pursued challenges that emphasize the nature of making. As a faculty lecturer at the University of Virginia, he has taught a range of courses including design studios on housing, iterative design, and urban interventions in parallel with workshops on visualization and communication strategies. Ryan joined Parabola as a full-time consultant in November 2016, and previously worked as a designer and assistant project manager at Euclidean Construction in Chicago and Vidar Lerum Architects in Urbana, Illinois. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies, with highest honors, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Architecture from the University of Virginia, where he was the recipient of the AIA Henry Adams Medal.
