  • Petco
    Full Stack Tech Lead
    Petco Mar 2020 - Aug 2022
    San Diego, California, Us
Petco is a pet health and wellness company looking to expand it's reach with new products andservices. I joined the innovation group in March to help build out the web service architecture that enables new product and service lines. I currently work on the wellness platform built using AWS lambda, Python, Django, React, GraphQL, and Aurora MySql.I drove the architecture and implementation of a billing service into the wellness platform. This helped automate previously manual accounting processes with our 3rd party insurance partner and provide full traceability of how a transaction was billed for and split among the participants.I helped coordinate with our 3rd party insurance partner and our engineers to build more automated integrations with their insurance back end system. This was to automate previously manual insurance tasks and reduce the load on customer service as we scale.I helped instill a culture of quality and greater focus on testing and code reviews to help drive up the quality of deliverables.
  • Teradata
    Senior Software Engineer
    Teradata Nov 2018 - Mar 2020
    San Diego, California, Us
Teradata is the world's leading provider of pervasive data intelligence, data and analyticssolutions, and hybrid cloud products. I joined in November to work on Stacki, an open sourcebare metal cluster installer written in Python. (https://github.com/Teradata/stacki/tree/develop)I implemented a plugin based framework that allows stacki to manage device firmware. The code is pluggable such that new plugins to enable managing firmware on otherdevices can be discovered by the system dynamically.I also added functionality to parallelize the running of plugins, which is important when yourfirmware update cycle is a long running task and you may have many devices to update. As a team, we've been working to fix up a lot of tech debt and general bad behavior, including adding a bunch of tests and adding features to the `stack report system`command which is a collection of health checks to point out common Stacki configuration errors.I helped fix up the ISO installer build consistency integrating Poetry and using it to recursively lock python dependencies. These are then re-packaged into RPMs to ship with Stacki's installer ISO.
  • Atx Networks Corp.
    Senior Software Engineer
Atx Networks Corp. Jan 2017 - Nov 2018
    Ajax, On, Ca
Pico Digital was an international telecommunications technology company serving radio and television broadcasters, content providers, hospitality, and commercial markets in more than 50 countries. It was acquired by ATX in December of 2016.I joined at the very beginning of January 2017 to help support the launching of the flagship PD1600 headend-in-a-box at a large European customer demonstration to be held at the end of February. By the time the demonstration rolled around, I had implemented the bulk of the Conditional Access (CA) feature that helped Pico Digital capture this marquee customer. For a follow on demonstration and milestone in May, I helped implement our side of an authentication and secure channel establishment protocol in order to securely communicate with third-party CA Modules (CAMs). This included the implementation of a Loadable Kernel Module (LKM) to talk to the Cryptographic Acceleration and Assurance module (CAAM) on the ARM chip.Through the first half of 2018 I successfully led a small group of engineers through the requirements, design, and integration of a new conditional access system into the PD1600.Over the summer of 2018 I mentored a software intern, providing tasks and guidance to help them learn and grow as a developer.I was an advocate for code quality and documentation improvements through participation in pull requests and design reviews.
  • Northrop Grumman Corporation
    Embedded Software Engineer
Northrop Grumman Corporation Jun 2013 - Dec 2016
    Falls Church, Va, Us
Northrop Grumman is a key supplier for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF). I was brought on straight out of college to help maintain and support the software for the JSF Communications, Navigation, and Identification (CNI) system.Under the lead’s guidance, I helped identify and fix issues in the operating system that underpins the entire software system.I was tapped to be part of the team that refactored one of the most complex waveforms in CNI into a more modular architecture in support of a key contract. A key achievement was my ability to resurrect and update the dusty test suite to re-verify a challenging set of software requirements. As the CNI was starting a planned hardware refresh, I helped with the trade studies and feasibility demos to prepare for the wide ranging software changes required before I moved on to other efforts.
