Transportation Specialist
• Oversaw the daily operations of nearly 200 school bus drivers and bus attendants.• Assisted in the routing, scheduling, and assignment of transportation services.• Responsible for homeless student transportation routing and scheduling.• Responsible for Non-Public Student routing and scheduling.• Responsible for paying contractors on a monthly basis.• Met and conferred with appropriate Central Office personnel, school administrators, parents and other interested parties to resolve transportation issues.• Performed summer and fall route planning and oversight for designated school buses and taxi cab services.• Provided oversight of regular and substitute bus drivers and aides and taxi cab services; regularly observed driver operations; and prepared bus road observation reports.• Responsible for investigating and preparing reports on accidents involving school buses at the direction of the Supervisor or Specialist.• Managed all aspects of the bus safety seat and safety vest inventory.• Maintained continuing familiarity with the county and its growth; requiring constant review of all existing communities, new communities, and new roads that affect school bus routes through on-the-road observations and from information received from the planning division.• Attended IEP and 504 meetings and hearings at the direction of the special education office.• Secured information and assisted in preparation of a variety of divisional reports as required by the department. • Assisted with computerized routing and scheduling systems in conjunction with tracking/maintenance software.• Managed and oversaw the summer, spring, and fall school bus inspections. • Lead and coordinated the summer, fall, and spring COMAR In-Service meetings for school bus drivers and aides.• Sat on the accident review board committee for Anne Arundel County Public Schools Division of Transportation.• Responsible for being part of the snow duty team during inclement weather months.
