As the Director of Software Development I was given two aggressive goals from the senior leadership team when I joined ProPay. The first was to implement an agile development process that would shorten our time to market and the second was to increase the quality of our software.After analyzing the development process that was in place, I developed a plan and a road map that would allow my team to meet these goals. With the support of the leadership team as well as my own teams (development and QA), I lead the effort to successfully transition the company to an agile development process which centered around quality. I built strong relationships with key stakeholders in order to earn the trust and support required to successfully complete this transition in less than 2 months. The key outcomes of this effort:• Exceeded expectation on both goals• Reduced time to market from 4-6 months to 3-5 weeks• Increased unit test count from 33 to 3,500+• Stabilized our fragile automated regression test suite• Centralized test cases into Test Manager• Reduced manual regression by more than 7 man weeks each iteration saving the company over $200K• Reduced hot fix deployments by more than 80%• Solid SDLC• Improved user story estimations• Reduced time spent on bug churn by more than 50%• Increased team velocity by 50%Other notable accomplishments:• Scrum Master under the new SDLC• Lead my team to consistently deliver on time and occasionally even ahead of schedule• Active member of the company’s IT Steering Committee• Worked with parent company, TSYS, to expand my team with full time resources in India• Responsible for providing regular status updates to the senior leadership team

Designed a modern Enterprise Architecture that saved the company 100+ hours per project across architecture, design, development, testing and maintenance.Responsible for designing and implementing the architecture of the application server tier consisting of the hardware, a suite of VMs and JBoss EAP server farms. My goals were automation of the install and reducing downtime related to software upgrades. These goals were met by automating the install process such that it was capable of creating a new HA JBoss environment from scratch in less than 15 minutes. I was able to reduce the server downtime by designing for rolling upgrades of applications and services.Provided technical leadership and mentored the development team during the transition to the modern architecture and technologies.Responsible for leading architectural design sessions with each project team requiring close interaction with the developers and PM’s to identify project risks and creative alternate solutions.Managed the production support team.Met regularly with management to discuss development issues as well as projects that were on the horizon.Responsible for vendor negotiations of JBoss support licensing.Required to regularly analyze complex problems in regards to the over all system, code and architecture and subsequently provide creative solutions.Implemented concepts of Lean Software Development to help reduce waste.
