I'm an organizational sociologist specialized in strategies for building businesses around emerging technology, building businesses in emerging markets, and for building A.I. into business organizations. In addition to academic research, my lab team and I work to commercialize our research and the research of others. In 2023, we accepted/initiated startup projects commercializing research in the A.I., blockchain, energy, biomaterials, agriculture, and aerospace. In just twelve months, we oversaw $716 million in new sales contracts for those startup projects using our unique technology commercialization framework: The Colossus Method.The startups commercializing academic research where I am a co-author have an estimated collective value of ~ $1.1 billion. One of those businesses is ranked in the top 30 AI companies in the world in terms of revenue. Another business based on research where I am a coauthor was recognized by Money 20/20 in 2024 as one of six disruptive fintech startups poised to transform the global financial system. I also served on the advisory board of Old Silver Venture Capital, known for its early investment in Moderna.
