I am a student mentor with a student cohort of over 110 first-year students at Southern Utah University. During my time in this organization, I have:-Worked with and deeply connected with a student cohort of over a total of 240 first-year students at Southern Utah University as a peer mentor.-Had personalized one-on-one meetings with each student per semester to ensure they were mentally, emotionally, and physically okay and finding success at SUU.-Worked with hundreds of students in our Student Help Center (The Nest) to help students find ways to get involved, register for classes, and connect them to various other resources across campus.-Worked directly with offices across campus, including SUUSA, Student Programming Board, Parent & Family Services, Student Support Services, EDGE Center, Student Success Advising, Career Center, Cashier, Registrar, Financial Aid, International Affairs, Veterans Office, Non-Traditional Office, Center for Diversity & Inclusion, and Student Affairs to help guide students with the resources they need.-Gave personalized tours to individual students and their families during the Summer to ensure that they are feeling comfortable coming to SUU.-Joined 4 search committees to select the most qualified person for university positions in Student Affairs.-Gave multiple presentations regarding maintaining connections with family and friends while away at school, study habits to ensure student success, and utilizing creativity to be social and create long-lasting memories.-Conducted research on Generation Z, the formation of identity, the hiding/revealing of LGBTQ+ identity, social media relationships (parasocial), and leadership at school and in the workplace to be further used for campaigns and enhancing outreach to future SUU students.This is a job I have been able to pour every ounce of who I am into.

• Worked with both a firework-display company and light and sound technicians to produce a firework extravaganza for over 4,000 SUU students, alumni, and community members.• Developed personalized script for a holiday gala that showcases alumni who donate continuously to the university.• With a team of 4, used creative abilities to design center pieces and other decorations for a holiday gala featuring alumni.• Stage managed a gala event, ensuring the script, sound and lights, and production schedule matched on another and directly called specific video and lighting cues throughout.• Developed connections and created team-bonding with a diverse class of 30 students to allow our individual weaknesses to become each other’s strengths.

As an event director in the Southern Utah University Student Programming Board, I led a team of assistant event directors in the planning process, managing, and executing of events to enhance student retention. These events included:-Clothes Donation 5k Run-Mr. SUU Pageant-The Masquerade Ball-The Paint Dance -Gained over 2,600 in student attendance.-The Scream Halloween Experience -Gained over 3,400 in student attendance.I have learned to execute many skills, such as: leading with a team, creating production schedules, working with a technical crew, video and music editing, contracting entertainers and companies, coordinating the audition and rehearsal process, managing feedback focus groups, managing social media platforms, script writing, developing specific event budgets, stress management, time management, and team mediation.
