I am a student who currently holds a position in a Spar NI branch in Newtownards. As a student, I have succeeded in completing my A-levels in Business Studies, Geography, and Physical Education. Completing A levels taught me a range of transferable skills such as working under pressure, working to guidelines and deadlines, and understanding how to write concisely. Whilst working in retail as a customer advisor I gained interpersonal skills, cash handling skills, and vital business knowledge that could not be taught in the classroom.As an avid sports fan and player, I have learned countless skills which can be easily transferred to the workplace. Following Manchester United and Ulster Rugby I have built resilience as many times I have felt like giving up. I play rugby for Ards RFC and Cricket for CSNICC for whom, I won Club Player of the Year having won this award it was great reassurance that my hard work has paid off. Sport has taught me that hard work, commitment, and determination are vital in a team. Understanding that each individual has a part to play and by everyone doing their part great things can happen. I am a very driven individual who knows that success comes via sacrifice, hard work, and a positive mentality. I focus a time in my schedule to mentally decompress which allows me to visualise and strategise my week, month, or year ahead. I understand that my future work in the economic and financial sector will require skills that I currently have and will require the ability to learn new skills.
