Medical ScribeBerenson Cancer Center Oct 2022 - PresentAt Berenson Cancer Center, an outpatient oncology clinic specializing in Multiple Myeloma and related metastatic bone disease, I update the electronic medical record in AdvancedMD for every patient encounter with Dr. Berenson. This includes a detailed recording of patient history, medications, review of systems, history of present illness, physical exam findings, and any additional documentation necessary for patients participating in a clinical trial or undergoing a bone marrow biopsy. I also transcribe treatment plans for patients under Dr. Berenson's guidance, which are given to the nurse and patient. For patients consulting with Dr. Berenson and being treated elsewhere, I am responsible for sending the treatment plan to the patient and their treating doctor via email and fax, respectively. Furthermore, I meet weekly with the clinical research team to identify patients eligible for clinical trials and provide significant updates on clinical trial patients. I am also involved in retrospective chart review and medical writing for clinical research papers. Finally, I serve as a liaison between the clinic and ONCOtracker, Dr. Berenson's company aimed at discovering novel cancer treatment and testing, including the use of soluble B-cell Maturation Antigen (sBCMA) as a multiple myeloma biomarker. I collect sBCMA blood samples from the clinic, communicate to ONCOtracker which samples need to be run in the ELISA assay, and provide a schedule for sBCMA blood draws for the nurses and medical assistants. -

Alongside the other LAs, I led interactive review sessions for each module of the physiology courses and created original practice problems for students in preparation for their exams. -
