Head Ring Runner
Summer Solstace Cluster
Cambridge, Minnesota, United States
This is a 4 day event known as The Summer Solstice Dog Show. This dog show created and operated by volunteers from the Anoka County Minnesota Kennel Club and the Cambridge Minnesota Kennel Club. Teenagers (13-18) volunteer and are payed a small amount. We help set up and help operate hospitality. Our job as Ring Runner’s was to supply drinks and supplies to the judges and Stewards at each of the rings as well as assist hospitality with food preparation. We would also do odd jobs for hospitality when we weren’t catering to the Judges. Odd jobs such as helping the on site vendors, delivering ice or helping the other volunteers with their work in the show. I was promoted to Head Ring Runner due to seniority and my responsibility. As Head Ring Runnner I was tasked with making sure the other Ring Runner’s did their run, making sure the carts were fully stocked, and taking role call so that everyone was doing their work. Even though we stop being paid at age 19, I continued to volunteer upon request of the others.
